Starting today if you want to fly a drone in the Untied States that weighs from 0.55 to 55 pounds you need to register with the FAA. You do have until February 19th, 2016 to register your drone for $5. If you continue to fly your drone and fail to register and not display your registration ID number, the pilot may be subjected to civil and criminal penalties from $27,500 to up 3 years in prison. To me that seems like a pretty hefty penalty for flying a drone. But we do have those idiots out there that are doing stupid things with their drones.
