THE 4TH & FINAL QUARTER
9:01 PM
Just a couple of hours ago the basketball community got the news that we all saw coming for awhile. Kobe Bryant told the world that he was saying goodbye to the game he loves at the end of the season.
Its actually really sad to watch Kobe's game diminish before our very eyes this season. Over the past 20 years he has had so many ridiculous moments. Though I am not a lakers fan, I am not blind. I am a basketball fan and Kobe was a BAD BOY! I'm actually going to miss watching him play at such a high level. I never thought that it would get this bad for him.
I still remember the day my favorite moment happened back in 97'. I was laying on the floor doing my homework with the lakers pre season game on in the background. I looked up because it was the end of the quarter and Kobe had the ball halfway between the three point line and half court when about 8 seconds left. He started his dribble, crossed his defender over with a Allen Iverson like cross and I went nuts. Then he drove down the lane and took flight and dunked on a then unknown player Ben Wallace. I went even more nuts. I called my boy Robert and asked had he seen the play because thats what we always did. We both couldn't believe what we had just saw. (video below) This was the start of the legend of Kobe Bryant! For the record Afro Kobe was my favorite era.
THANK YOU KOBE for giving us so many great moments for the last 20 years. And thank you for signing my stuff after practice at the Forum.
