APPLE APPLE APPLE

Well, here it is, Apple throws itself into the battery case fray, but was it a smart move on Apples part? Let’s get into it, first I want to discuss the design. When it comes to Apple products you expect a clean, sleek, urban, pretty design, this case is sleek in some parts, though overall the design isn’t what you would expect from an Apple product. There’s a large protrusion from the back, as the case is quite form fitting elsewhere, you cannot stop the case from charging your phone, unless you take the case off. As compared to other battery cases, where you have the option of turning it on and off, and it’s all sleek and put together. Though I will admit it does have a nice design to look at, I think it would be a problem to hold, making your grip awkward and imprecise.

Now the specs, there’s not much to be said on this front because it’s not a complicated phone or anything, being a case there is the matter of the mAh (Milliamps Hour), how the case itself is charged, and this being Apple, they add a little something extra. As for mAh it’s sitting at 1,887 capacity, being only a little better than the 6s battery, could this be Apple coming to terms with the inferiority of its own battery? In layman’s terms the battery capacity for this case is, okay and definitely not the best. But I’ll finish that thought at the end of this article. This of course being an Apple product, to charge the case you would be using a lightning cable. And if you’re buying this case you of course have an iPhone, so that would make charging the case a nonissue. Whereas other battery cases are charged using a micro usb, those with an old android charging cable would find this a nonissue, but otherwise it could present a problem in the future. Now the last part being a little something extra, when the case is plugged into your 6s, it’ll show in your notifications tray how much charge your phone is getting, also the percentage of your battery case. As well as an interesting lockscreen when you’re charging the case as it’s plugged into the phone. Showing two batteries side-by-side charging, and it’s not much but that would explain why it would be called a “Smart” battery case.

I’d like to wrap up this article comparing the iPhone 6s Smart Battery Case, to battery cases in general. The Apple case is going for $99, the battery capacity is okay, the design isn’t as sleek as many other Apple products, the only way to stop charging is by taking the case off, and the last thing it has to offer is two color options, black and white. Now, compared to a battery case, of the same price I’d like to call out the Mophie juice pack air, the same price point as Apples case, better battery capacity at 2,750 mAh, the design is sleek and smooth, a plethora of color options, and last but not least is the dedicated on/off switch. My final opinions are as follows: I believe that Apple didn’t necessarily flop, though I’m quite confident that their next iteration will be better if not nicer, though they may keep or even jack up the price, Apple has taken a step into battery cases, and it can only get better from here.
