NEVER SEEN A BROTHA PUSHIN' A STROLLER???

1:14 PM

Soooooo yesterday was the first time that Hudson and I would spent most of the day without mommy. We had no plans really, the only definite was going to Whole Foods to re-up on my favorite cookie dough (Eat Pastry). I love that stuff.
Hudson and I got in the Jeep and we just drove around not knowing where we were going. I don't think he cared where we were going since he was knocked out in his carseat. Our first stop was at RAT beach to get some shots for my Instagram feed. I didn't stay long because it was too cold for Huddy. So we just headed to Whole Foods to pick up the goodness.
So now we get to the real subject of this post. While I'm walking through the store I start to notice that people keep staring at me like I'm an alien or have sh!t on my face. I'm like "what the hell are ya'll looking at?" Then I realize that they are staring at me because I'm a youngish black man pushing an expensive stroller without a woman with me. A few people even gave me that awkward smile so I knew it was real. LOL!
Hey I get it. You really don't see young brotha's pushin' strollers solo. It saddens me that we don't see more of this, I WANT TO SEE MORE OF THIS! I NEED TO SEE MORE OF THIS! SOCIETY REALLY NEEDS TO SEE IT! We have to change the perception of how people see us. It's still a trip to see people look at you like you're an alien for doing the right thing. I try not to let stuff like this bother me anymore, because you might just be the guy that changes someone's opinion of black men. So I happily kept it pushin' and grabbed my cookie dough went to the checkout counter. There I was told I was doing a great job by the cashier who I'm guessing was a single mother. I told her this was my first time having my son by myself for most of the day. She was like "Hey, you are doing great. You're out with your son" then I thought to myself "ooooooooookay I guess I'm doing a good job. I was just pushing the kid around while he was knocked out in his stroller. But oooookay. I'll take it." Lol.
Moral of the story is, (I hate to single a group out buuuut...) white people are gonna stare uncomfortably hard at you when you're not depicting the characteristics of what the media portrays a black man to be. And brotha's we can't get mad at them for staring so damn hard. Take it as a compliment, you must be doing something right if they are starting or you just might be that ugly with sh!t on his face.
