STROMTROOPERS DRESSING ROOM

WIRED UK magazine give us a preview into their January 16 issue. Which is the publications Star Wars issue which comes out on December 10th. I'm gonna do my best to get my hands on this issue. WIRED gives a behind the scenes look into the stromtrooper's (my favorite of all time) dressing room for The Force Awakens. Designer Michael Kaplan(Blade Runner, Star Trek). Discussing his
inspiration, Kaplan describes an aesthetic inspired by the iPhone in his
pocket: “With time, I think, simplification occurs. Because the stormtroopers
are white and plasticky, my thoughts did go to Apple.” Opting for a much
sleeker rendering of the costumes, Kaplan has replaced any bumps and nodules in
favor of clean lines and floating faceplates. Although modernized, the revised
stormtroopers retain the distinct spirit of the original films, showcasing the
evolution of a world established over almost 40 years. Utilizing a
pristinely seamless silhouette, the update is constructed with thicker,
more flexible material and is infinitely more suited for battle than its 1970′s
alternative. You can head over to WIRED to read more about
the inspiration for Episode VII‘s costume inspiration.
